Amazing entry into this great space opera. First off, this series is much better than the show. I honestly couldn’t even get through the first episode. Knowing that, if you didn’t like the show but really want to read a great long, as in many books, space opera this is the one.
This one picks-up quick then lets the dust settle for a bit. It slowly ruminants as new characters are introduced, and storylines develop. This book finishes with a bang. There’s a good plot twist, if you want to call it that, to keep you guessing.
I love this series because Corey does a fantastic job at keeping you interested while still having time to build the world, develop characters and create a great cliffhanger to get you into the next book. All this while still wrapping the current contentions up enough to give you closure.
This book is thrilling and has a good amount of cursing, killing, shooting, gore and a little romance. Overall, it’s one of my favorite sci-fi series. I highly it recommend because it’s easy to read and yet still surprising philosophical at times.
