Get your Zoloft (or insert anti-depressant pill of choice) and Xanax ready. This book is dark. It explores the power of the human perseverance to live and mental illnesses. This was one of the darkest books in the series. Nail biting at times and it required some endurance to read somewhat difficult topics. This isn’t to say Nemesis Games is extremely depressing all the time. However, it certainly touches on topics that might be a little triggering for individuals that have issues with abandonment, sexual exploitation on some levels or mental illnesses.
Nemesis Games is raw. It’s a difficult read because it explores the pasts of some of the other protagonists. They don’t have happy pasts. Which is why I like this book. It brings it back to earth, so to speak 😉. It helps you understand the characters better. Which in turn, helps you understand why they act, think and make the decisions they do a little better.
I can’t say it was my favorite entry into the series, but not for negative reasons. Only because it’s a little more real and hits home at times, more so than the previous books. It’s an essential edition to the series because it really sets the plot for the rest of the contention in the later books. If you continuing with the series this is a must read!
